Baking started at an early age for me, not coming from a particularly foodie family I found my own way mostly with books. My first cookery book being We Can Cook a wonderful Ladybird book I received for my ninth birthday. My poor family suffered as taste testers on all sorts of creations.
I continued to bake through to adulthood (although it’s debateable that I’ve actually reached that!) it was, and still is a wonderful way to relax and bring a smile to my face. Not many better thing then having music playing, the oven on and a bake in progress.
After a few baking competition wins (see http://www.samskitchen.net/?p=202 and http://www.samskitchen.net/?p=589 ) I felt spurred on to make a food Facebook page (Link) and this website, adding recipes and chit chat. My blog was featured in the top 5 food blogs in Making Cake and Bakes Magazine. After thanking them profusely I added a cheeky ‘please let me know if you need a freelance food writer’ to my email. This led to a blissful couple of years of baking, trying lots of new things.
This sadly came to a close when the magazine ceased publishing. They say when one door closes another opens……I was approached by a publishing house to write recipes and photograph for Cake Decorating Magazine. The perfect combination for me, it’s really helped me hone my food photography and my boldness with creations.
Baking is my hobby, my job and my passion. It’s brought me so many new friends and skills and I am grateful for this every day.
I also love reading, gardening, drinking wine, and my pets Jake the cat and my chicken girls.
Thanks for stopping by ♥
